CCF and PDRF to cross-share resources for disaster preparedness and response

Thursday, 3 December, Makati City – The Philippine Disaster Resilience Foundation (PDRF) and Singapore’s Corporate Citizen Foundation (CCF) today signed a Memorandum of Intent (MOI) to allow for active cross-sharing of assets, experiences, expertise and networks so as to better serve the humanitarian ecosystem in the area of disaster management.

Singapore’s corporate alliance inks commitment with ASEAN on Disaster Management

(above) Landmark Signing of Cooperation between the ASEAN Coordinating Centre for Humanitarian Assistance on disaster management (AHA Centre) and the Corporate Citizen Foundation (CCF), with CCF’s Technical Adviser and Executive Director, Hassan Ahmad and AHA Centre’s Executive Director, Said Faisal. The signing of the MOI was witnessed by (from left) ASEAN Deputy Secretary-General Vongthep Arthakaivalvatee, Minister for Education and Senior Minister of State for Defence, Ong Ye Kung, and CCF Chairman Lim Choo Leng.

Sunday, 1 November 2015 – The Corporate Citizen Foundation (CCF) today signed a landmark partnership agreement with the ASEAN Coordinating Centre for Humanitarian Assistance on disaster management (AHA Centre), making Singapore-born CCF the first official private sector alliance partner for regional disaster management. The signing took place at CCF’s 1st anniversary observance ceremony to mark and share on CCF’s first year of regional humanitarian service, since it was launched by DPM Tharman Shanmugaratnam in October last year.

Fresh quakes pose problems in relief and recovery planning

CCF Nepal Quake Update #02 – Poor sanitation and hygiene due to ‎lack of clean water has seen a sharp increase in dysentery cases. Further loss of fluid due to dysentery, exacerbates dehydration and loss of energy amongst the survivors, increasing their vulnerability to illnesses and diseases.‎ ‎Upper respiratory infection (URTI) cases are also on a rapid rise. Medical supplies including painkillers, antibiotics and anti-diarrhoea are urgently required.

HYDRATION AND HYGIENE KEY TO HALT HEALTH HAZARDS

CCF Nepal Quake Update #01 – A powerful 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck Nepal on 25 April 2015, and triggered a deadly avalanche on Mount Everest and landslides in the Langtang valley region, burying homes and damaging historic landmarks and public infrastructures. More than eight million people are affected across the 39 districts of Nepal, including the cities of Kathmandu and Bharatpur, and the neighbouring regions of India, with nearly 2.8 million displaced and 5,000 lives perished.

Friday, 2 January — The Corporate Citizen Foundation together with SEED partner local marine civil engineering and construction firm, HSL, sent its disaster response team with an initial tranche of aid worth RM 95,000 in response to the massive and destructive floods afflicting the communities of Kelantan, Malaysia.

MAIDEN MISSION TO TYPHOON-STRUCK MANILA

More than a million people are displaced and living in temporary shelters and evacuation centres, resulting from one of the biggest peacetime evacuations days before Typhoon Hagupit slammed the eastern coast of the Philippines.

Manila, Philippines, 8 December – Singapore’s first private-sector alliance, the Corporate Citizen Foundation (CCF) departed from the municipality of Gumaca, Quezon province heading towards the capital region of Manila, hours after Typhoon Hagupit made its second landfall onto the Philippines.
